The thoughts put into our minds,
Pulling at our ego piece by piece,
Why can't we leave it behind,
The idea of more skin being ugly sickens me.
We were once taught to be different,
Now being different is a threat,
Finding one minute "solutions" to our beauty,
We'd rather kill to collect.
I cannot just sit here and see another woman diminishing herself,
Because she is told she doesn't look equivalent to what is suppose to be wealth.
To me,
Wealth is power,
Wealth is not fame,
Wealth is wisdom,
Wealth is pain.
Pain of experience,
Experience as an independent,
Multitasking everything,
While still being a women.
Standing in an army of your enemies and standing your ground,
Changing a nation,
Without making a sound.
I see women opening doors,
Not just using their own hands,
But straightening out their skirts,
And boosting young girls so they can stand,
I want all of this and we are almost there,
We've already taken the first step,
Dropping hints,
I want us to keep marching,
Until we have left our footprint.
